"The best meeting I ever went to was an accident"
One holiday weekend I went to attend a regular 12 step meeting on Sunday. The church was closed and it normally serviced several different meetings on that night. A number of people gathered outside and at my suggestion, we went to a corner of the parking lot where the church had a garden seating area and we all had a 12 step meeting.
That meeting changed me. I was there for my codependency issues, but I qualify for several programs. To listen to stories from codependents, drug addicts and alcoholics in the same meeting, taught me that all of us suffer from the same basic issues and that recovery can work on just about anything.
I have been in and out of recovery and have worked with several different therapists since the 1980s. I have participated in 7 different recovery programs and gained something from all of them. I support 12 Step Recovery and its many variations and this web site is designed to support anyone who is interested in working the steps. The materials here are free and you are welcome to use them with anyone you feel safe with. In time, I hope to make this the greatest recovery resource available on the internet, because recovery has had such a profound effect on me and my life.
Mixed Recovery means, we are here to support any recovery program and any belief system that works for you.
Sincerely,
Rev. Jeff Rounds for Mixed Recovery, Inc.
Mixed Recovery is an Omnist company, community and a wellness system intended to provide tools and support for all of life's challenges. Our primary function is to teach acceptance and help individuals create a personalized system for wellness and balance. Our goal is to increase mental health and general wellness, while emphasizing concepts which are universally true.
Mixed Recovery, Inc., was created to fill a void. Our mission is to provide a safe atmosphere for healing and teach people the value and importance of acceptance. We base our teachings on honesty and personal experience, rejecting popular science in favor of what we have found to be universally true. Each of our members have been carefully screened for empathy, honesty and self awareness. When they meet with clients, they are selfless and non-judgmental. In session, when clients confess our team members will be compelled to also respond with a confession and offer the tools and resources they use for coping.
The company recovery system is based on on the 12 Steps and 12 traditions of recovery and our sessions with 12 Step Certified members qualify as 5th step work. Our team members are specialized in their abilities to read other people, empathize and relate to their situations and respond with honest and helpful insights.
Mixed Recovery is an emotional process, and we base our policies on acceptance. The entire point of our organization is giving people an environment where they can release their feelings safely knowing they will never be judged. Judging other people is a very common behavior and we do not claim perfection, only that it is our virtue to always be mindful of our thoughts. We do not claim to be above or better than anyone and some of our members have severe conditions which may be exposed in session. This is why we defend their right to turn away clients at any time to protect their own emotional and mental health.
Our members are a mixture of professionals and non professionals, their qualifications are clearly stated and we have nothing to do with any of their financial transactions, there is no charge for being listed in the member directory.
Mixed Recovery is based on the 12 steps and 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous and accept the teachings as universal truth. We support and encourage involvement in 12 Step Recovery, we also acknowledge that meetings seem to scare off many people and the message reaches comparably few. With all respect, we also acknowledge that there are a lot of sick people in recovery which makes it difficult for well adjusted people, and the 12 Steps can make people of various beliefs systems uncomfortable depending on their feelings about God.
Our system is designed to advance the recovery of people already involved in 12 step, while also providing a platform for people who have no interest in attending meetings of any kind. We are hoping to bring the benefits of meeting acceptance practices to the general public and provide them with another option for wellness that is proven and already helping millions of people world wide cope with their issues. Combined with our policies about identifying and respecting the beliefs of each participant, we hope to appeal to suffering people worldwide and act as ambassadors for 12 step recovery and or whichever belief system each member is well versed in.
Mixed Recovery above all is a safe environment for people to discuss their difficulties. We feel that we are only as sick as our secrets and without the ability to speak openly to others, we often suffer more than needed. To help create this atmosphere of complete safety, our team is trained in radical acceptance and agree to this code of ethics.
